Pasupathi, Staudinger, & Baltes (2001) examined the development of wisdom-related performance in adolescence and found that scores increased dramatically with age up to about age 23, then leveled off.
Staudinger & Pasupathi (2003) found that, for adolescents, crystalized intelligence and openness to experience were most predictive of wisdom-related performance.
For adults, the greatest contributing factors to wisdom-related performance were at the interface between intelligence and personality (creativity, social intelligence, and moral reasoning, and especially creativity).
Thus, intelligence is an important prerequisite to wisdom-related performance for adolescents, but not for adults (Pasupathi, Staudinger, & Baltes, 2001; Staudinger & Pasupathi, 2003; Richardson & Pasupathi, 2005).
Staudinger & Baltes (1996) examined the influence of social context on wisdom-related performance.
